Syracuse football recruiting: Class of 2017 junior college quarterback Clayton Welch commits to Syracuse

Junior college quarterback Clayton Welch committed to Syracuse on Thursday night, according to a tweet from Jon Hays, offensive coordinator at Butte College.



Welch played only one season at Butte in Oroville, California, giving him three years of eligibility at Syracuse.

Standing at 6-foot-5-inches and weighing 223 pounds, per his Hudl, Welch brings a big frame to the Orange quarterback room. He also runs a 4.88 40-yard dash, a 4.34 shuttle and has a 29.2 inch vertical, per Hudl.d

 Welch is the 29th member of the class of 2017, joining Tommy Devito as the only other gunslinger in the group. Track the rest of the 2017 class here.
